Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress who is best well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC TV series Lost and Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. After the divorce of her parents, she left Worthington, Ohio to live in Los Angeles. Her first role came to her, as Rachel's Room's main character in 2001 despite struggling in the financial department. Her performance in the role of Martha Moxley, a 15-year-old victim of murder in the T.V. movie Murder in Greenwich in 2002 earned her a nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal protagonist for two seasons and was awarded an award for her performance, a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace left the television series in 2005 to focus on the role of a greater part in movies, and had a role opposite Tom Welling as Kim Mills in Taken. She was in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in both 2007 and Taken (2008) alongside Liam Neeson. She played the same role on Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace reprised Shannon's role as Shannon in Lost for two more episodes, including the finale of the series. She also appeared in the sixth episode of Californication. She portrays Faith, who is a fan and muse of the actors. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. She is part of the Gyllenhaal clan and the younger sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens She began working on small roles with her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko alongside her sister. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win an Golden Globe Award in both the action drama Sherrybaby (2005) as well as the romance comedy Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. Following several commercially-successful films, such as World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely when she played Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The year 2009 was the time she was nominated for the award of Best Supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mother on screen in Crazy Heart. The roles she played in subsequent films include Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang and Hysteria. The actress also was the role of a Secret Service Agent in White House Down the action thriller from 2013, she was a musician on the set of Frank (2014) and the lead role for the lead role in The Kindergarten Teacher, a drama released in 2018. In 2021, Gyllenhaal was able to make her writing and directing debut with the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
